The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space has Opened New Galleries
The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum has announced the phased opening of its newly reimagined east end galleries that celebrate the history and future of flight, space exploration, and scientific innovation.
Reich&Petch proudly led the design development and technical documentation for this ambitious project. Working in close collaboration with the museum, Design and Production Incorporated, and a team of dedicated consultants, R&P helped bring Smithsonian’s vision to life.
R&P’s goal was to enhance the visual impact, buildability, and functionality of these spaces, develop the approach to accessibility with the Museum and their advisors, as well as document and coordinate all aspects of the design.
Today marks the opening of the first set of galleries—three of which we had the privilege to work on:
- Futures in Space
- Barron Hilton Pioneers of Flight
- World War I: The Birth of Military Aviation
